What is your ‘Good Fight’?

I am on a total mission to sort out the economy.
It makes me super-cross that we’re leaving it all
to the grown-ups, who are just making things
worse. The market is a complex adaptive
system, and every transaction we make is a vote
for the kind of market we want. So all we need to
do to change the market is to make better
transactions. To help, I’ve written a book called Capitalism’s Toxic Assumptions, published by Bloomsbury, that explains why many of the rules that govern market thinking are now past their sell-by date. The 4 minute youtube version is below. I’m keen to get the message out. I want to empower everyone to take charge of their own bank statement, so that month-by-month it becomes a thing of beauty, a testament to how each of us is building an economy that makes us all feel proud rather than ashamed.

What do you need to realise your goal?

I have the book, and lots of associated articles, blogs, videos, a quiz, and a flowchart! But I need to find a way to get heard in the midst of all this noise. There are now lots of ‘reform capitalism’ books out there, generally written by famous chaps with loud voices and PR machines. I don’t begrudge them this success, as we’re all fighting the same good fight. But most of them are appeals to a government that isn’t listening, rather than a message of encouragement to empower consumers. Supply-side critiques if you like, more than demand-side calls to action. People who read my book feel excited – it demystifies economics and makes them feel they could make a difference. But I need help getting the message out.

Where can we find out more?
